Post Quilt Retreat 2012 Blog Update.

It’s over for another year! It seems to take forever to come around then it’s gone in a flash.  This year was our 10th Anniversary Retreat, and to celebrate we did what we do best…..stitched up a storm.

The weekend began for some of us with a visit to the annual Christmas in the Country craft extravaganza in Gatton. There were lots of craft stalls with delightful goodies for sale.

I took home some fudge and nougat for my family, and this lovely little dolly for Brooklynn. A little fabric and some threads.

I had a productive weekend completing the backs for three quilts, then I spray basted them. Presently they are hanging over my treadmill awaiting machine quilting.

The blocks in this green and red quilt top were from a blog somewhere.  I used my scraps, although the containers don’t seem to have any less in them?  A selection of fat quarters and left overs from the front became the backing.  It was as big a job as making the front of the quilt!  Just as satisfying too.

Another collection of fat quarters backed my four Carpenter Star blocks, also from a blog tute.

My charm squares from Walmart, Hawaii backed by this simple yet hypnotic fabric, was my last quick finish project.

The food was wonderful as usual and the conversations many and varied.  Many of the worlds issues were discussed and solved, just waiting for someone to ask us to step in!

Just a few of the many projects worked on during the weekend.

This showcases just a portion of these talented ladies weekend projects.  So it’s over the another year, and we are all looking forward to the next one in 2013!

Thanks for visiting.

Looks like you all had a wonderful time at retreat, Julie. Everyone seemed to achieve heaps - amazing what you can do when all you have to do is sew! Brooklynn looks as cute as ever.
