The drought seems to be well and truly over! This week has seen some of the heaviest rain fall in such a long time. Most unusual for this time of the year too, I had thought it would take a summer cyclone to break our long running drought.
Block 4 of Tiskit a Tasket
In this block I have tried the back basting applique technique, it is quite a bit easier that the other forms of needle turn applique I have tried recently. There are some great tutorials on blogs out there, this is the one I used.
Another Sock Monkey joins our family
This little monkey has a cheeky smile, I can see all kinds of mischief in his eyes.........
Labels for my creations
This idea came from another blog I was browsing. I have often wanted to add a tag to the things I make. I wanted them to look professional and unique, oh and be cheap as chips and easy to make.
Not a big ask I hear you say..... well since finding this blog I would have to agree... this was easy, and fun, now I have a roll of labels to add to anything I make in the future.
The image of the dainty little handbags comes from the cute business cards and return address labels I had made at Vista Print, I scanned and cropped the image and inserted it into a page of text, that I then printed onto a T-Shirt transfer sheet. This transfer was cut up to fit onto 7/8" grosgrain ribbon and ironed into place.

Wow, Julie. Love the back-basted applique basket (I use the same method and really like not needing templates or glue), and the labels. Thanks SO much for the link to the blog tutorial about it! I have a quiltmaking ministry (www.StitchinMission.org) and provide labels for everyone in my classes. I've been paying for fabric labels, but will sure give this a try. Thanks very much! Julie I love your sock monkeys, what a great bit of fun! And the back basting applique tooks fab...I'm going to give it a whirl for the very next piece of applique I do.
You are such a mine of information.
Thanks!
Love the block and the monkeys are just too cute.
Thanx for sharing the link for the labels... such a great idea!
