OMG it’s been a while…..

Several weeks have past since my last blog update, but I promise I’ve not been idle.
After returning from Mt Alford Retreat, my friend Suzie came for a short visit.  We visited my local Patchwork Shops. and I had the chance to show her my sewing room and various projects I was working on.  Generally we just chatted up a storm!

All too quickly it was time for her to leave.
Winter began to bite here in SEQ and for me it seems to make it easier to spend the days inside without feeling a moments guilt!  Although I did get my daily dose of vitamin D while on holiday from work for two weeks.
Each day I would take my morning cuppa outside and enjoy a few chapters of whatever book I was reading, taking in the spectacular winter sunshine while relaxing.

On the first day of my holiday my friend Carolyn and I took our sons for a day trip to Stradbroke Island in Moreton Bay.  It was cloudy and cold, but that didn’t stop us from having a great day out.

The ocean was a little wild but oh so beautiful to took at.
P1050486 On the stitching front, I put together these half square triangles together into a quilt top……now to shop my stash to find a suitable border fabric. I bought the original charm squares from Wal-Mart in Hawaii, so perhaps this will be my Hawaiian Quilt?

One fabric, two different table runners.

2 designs 1 fabric While Suzie was visiting we went to one of my local Patchwork Shops and the very caring, sharing assistant showed us how to turn a border fabric into something amazing… I was totally hooked, as was Suzie.
I bought just 1.3m of this border fabric and managed to cut the required blocks to get two table runners.

My weight loss is going well and I’m now 14kg lighter, that meant it was time to go clothes shopping, none of my jeans fit anymore.

That required a little shopping trip to Harbour Town at Helensvale on the Gold Coast, my sister Wanda, her daughter Sharna and Leah and I made a day of it. We had so much fun, and finally exhausted, we stopped for a rest.

Our beautiful Brooklynn is growing so fast, and developing such a delightful little personality, she is very competent at saying “No!” and usually it’s directed at anyone trying to separate her from her mother!
It will be interesting to see how she copes with the fact she will be getting a brother or sister before the end of the year?????  Yes Leah’s pregnant again, due in late December.
599568_10151041582107249_337910040_n I've know since she first found out, but have been sworn to secrecy….not that I’m good at secrecy…..I told many of my friends, then swore them to secrecy, that seemed to work for me……!!
Last weekend we went to Mt Tamborine for a day trip.  The markets were on and it was a beautiful if very cold day on the mountain.

Greg found the cute little Lady Beetle cap on a stall for Brooklynn, it must have been cold because she left it on her head for most of the day.

Last but not least, tonight while browsing Pinterest.....(I have restricted myself to Friday Nights Only) I found a Fabric Flower Tutorial and just had to get my box of scraps out and give them a go.

That’s about if for now, thanks for visiting!

Wow! Lots of stuff going on in your life! I'm so glad you could spend time with Sue and she could see your little corner of the world. That ocean view is amazing. Your country has the most wonderful, dynamic picturesque places. Oh I miss it! Your hst quilt is great - love the colors. Maybe you can give it to your new little Miss... if you have another new Miss, that is. Congratulations on this happy news. You're too young to have TWO grandchildren, but I am sure you'll step into the role just fine. I hope everyone remains healthy.

Cindy W,
Great Catch-up Blog, thanks for including a link to Suzie's blog.
And Julie, in the Beach shots, sign says Bathers Only, does that mean even if you so desired to do nude bathing you couldn't LOL.
Hey and I LOVE your runners, been looking for some appropriate fabric for this method for ages, yours is GORGEOUS.
See you Wednesday.

Just love those table runners from the border fabric, Julie. Very effective. Brooklynn sure is growing quickly. How lovely she is getting a new brother or sister. Congrats on your weight loss, wish I could be more disciplined. It is soooo hard in winter. Cheers, Di.
