Yesterday we hired a Taxi to take us around to the North Shore. It was a themed cab Hawaii 5 0, and the music was playing loudly when he pulled up at our hotel.
I took the opportunity to finish the disposable camera I bought to take when we went swimming with the dolphins. So some of my photographs will have to be added later.
Our first stop was at a lookout above Waikiki, it was so windy it would have blown a dog of a chain!
Then he took us to a Japanese Temple.
It was a beautifully serene place to visit.
Next stop, Turtle Beach Resort for lunch. It was a magic place, so beautiful!
This is the view from our lunch table.
Dessert was Matsumoto’s Shave Ice.
Last stop Dole Pineapple Plantation. Reminiscent of The Big Pineapple in Queensland.
After calling into Margaritaville for happy hour we did a little more shop browsing…..checking out the duty free shop and then decided to try Duke’s for dinner. It was almost 10pm by the time we ate, it is just a different lifestyle here, holiday time is happening 24/7. The streets are busy until very late, and food is available and the eateries are busy until very late too.
Bookings aren’t taken, and there is almost always a line up for a table. The longest wait we had was at the Chees cake Factory, the busiest venue of all.
I ordered the Baby Back Pork Ribs and was blown away by the amazing smoky taste. The photo makes the serve look huge, but it wasn’t really!!! Needless to say dessert was not an option.
After dinner we took a walk along the beach, stopping to get our feet wet. The water was so warm we were very tempted to take a dip!
Finally we headed back to the hotel and found ourselves still awake well after midnight…..I m so going to sleep well on the return flight.
Thanks for visiting,
Julie xxx
