Stunning Stable Bag

Here is my version of The Stunning Stable Bag by The Village Quilt Shop at Mittagong.

I had put it off for some time, once again because I thought it was going to be difficult.....why do I do that?

Anyway, once I started I began to wonder why I had once again procrastinated. It is a lovely bag when completed, although I did struggle with some of the instructions, only because there were only a few diagrams and I am obviously a visual learner.

I tried to use some leftover dowel Greg had in his shed, he cut it to the correct length for me and screwed in the eyelets.....I tried to thread the dowel through the casing only to realise the dowel was a little too thick!

I had already unpicked the whole thing because I didn't like the lining fabric I had chosen which I had also used for the piping, alas the fabric I had left didn't run to making more piping, so I left that out in the refit!

Needless to say I was not unpicking again to accommodate the 'fat' dowel, so I bought more and completed the bag using it.

I have good intentions to make another, using the 'fat' dowel, although I had better make a note in the pattern to make the dowel pocket larger!!!

Now back to the packing up of my sewing room!
